Hair Care : Dry Hairs

Here are some natural care tips for people with dry hairs.

  • Mash a little overripe banana and avocado together, spread in your hair, and leave it there for up to an hour. Then rinse with warm water.

  • After your shampoo, rinse your hair with a little beer. This can help restore shine.

  • Remove the white of an egg from the yolk, and whip the white thoroughly. Then add 1 tablespoon of water to the yolk and blend until the mixture is creamy. Next, mix the white and yolk together. Wet your hair with warm water, remove the excess moisture, and apply the egg mixture to your scalp with your fingertips. Massage gently until the froth is worked into your scalp, and then rinse the hair with cool water. Keep applying the mixture until it is used up. Continue to rinse until all of the egg is washed away.

  • Rub a few drops of this oil into the palms of your hands and then into your hair. It will give you instant condition and shine

  • Use this pre-shampoo conditioning treatment to deep-treat damaged hair. Take 3 eggs, 2 tablespoons olive oil or safflower oil, and 1 teaspoon vinegar. Mix it together. Apply it to your tresses, cover with a plastic cap, and leave it on for 30 minutes. Then shampoo as usual. This will give it a shine, and cure dryness right down to the roots,

  • Apply 1 tablespoon Mayonnaise onto your hair, rub it in down to your scalp, then cover with a plastic cap and wait about 30 minutes. Rinse it out thoroughly.

  • Add three tablespoons of Epsom Salt to three tablespoons of your regular condition. Heat this concoction up in the microwave for about thirty seconds or until warm. Then work it into your hair. Let it sit for twenty minutes. Rinse with warm water. The magnesium sulfate in Epsom Salt will revitalize your hair.

  • Rub a little oil into your scalp. Olive oil works well, as does coconut oil. After you rub it on, cover your hair with a cap and leave it on overnight, then shampoo and rinse the oil out in the morning.

  • Aromatherapies are believed to help improve dry hair. If you add a combination of six drops of lavender, bay and sandalwood essential oils with six ounces of warm sesame or soy oils then apply the oil to the hair, wrap in towel for 15 minutes, then rinse; this will help in treating dry hair.

  • Avoid over shampooing. Shampooing can wash away the hair's protective oils, so try washing less often and use a mild shampoo labeled "for dry or damaged hair."

  • In a spray bottle, mix one-half cup of vinegar plus one cup of water. After you shampoo your hair, spray it with this solution. Not only will it add highlights to brown hair, it will also remove built-up residue and shampoo.

  • Condition regularly. Conditioners protect the hair's cuticle layer from splitting from the shaft. Pick a conditioner that works well for your hair and use it after every shampoo.

  • Eat lots of food high in omega -3 fatty acids, such as fish. It is recommended that you eat salmon or some other cold water fish at least twice per week. Add flaxseed oil to your diet; approximately two tablespoons a day added to popcorn or potatoes can replenish lost hair and skin oils. Flaxseed has a buttery, nutty like flavor, try it, it's not that bad.

  • Don't forget to Wear a hat before leaving home. Too much exposure to wind and sun can leave hair malnourished.

  • Pour a can of coke on your hair. Work it in well and rinse it out. Your hair will shine.

  • Trim off split ends. The biggest problem caused by dry hair is split ends. Schedule a trim every six to eight weeks to keep fraying ends under control.

  • Ease up on the heat. Heat (in the form of blow dryers, as well as straightening and curling irons) can quickly dry out hair. Let your hair air dry occasionally. Try using plastic cylinder rollers to straighten hair by wrapping slightly moist hair under and around rollers for about 10 minutes. For curling, try using sponge rollers overnight or sleeping with moist braids.

  • Don't swim without a cap. Use a rubber cap to protect your hair from the damaging effects of chlorine. If you must forgo a cap, rub a spoonful of olive oil into your hair before diving in.

  • Deep condition hair after it's exposed to salty or chlorinated water.
