Producer Rajan Shahi’s ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, the melodrama which has always kept the audience hooked with its high quotient of drama, has once again succeeded in gripping the attention of viewers after a long time.

Our source informs, “Yeh Rishta… is back as a number one daily soap with 6 TRP ratings followed by Zee TV’s ‘Pavitra Rishta’ and Color’s ‘Uttaran’ on second and ‘Bidaai’ on 4th number. ‘Bidaai’ has increased its TRP’s by 5 times in recent episodes and are hoping for still higher ratings after the star-cameos.”

We called Hina Khan aka Akshara of ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ and she tells us elatedly, “I am very much happy as our show has once again gripped the audience, due to which today our show is number one. I feel overwhelmed for the support and love of audience. Eventually hard work pays, doesn’t it?”

“We have worked very hard and in the process have shed loads of tears! It really becomes very challenging to cry again and again as the shot is not taken just once. But after all, I think is that hard work that is showing as success now,” signs off Hina merrily.

Well, we are sure Hina would be still crying, though this time the tears would be of joy!

Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor praised superstar Shah Rukh Khan for standing up against Shiv Sena during the controversy surrounding the release of `My Name Is Khan`, saying that the bullying of artistes by political groups needs to stop.

Shiv Sena had demanded that the superstar apologise for his remarks favouring inclusion of Pakistani players in IPL and threatened to halt `MNIK`s release.

"I think Shah Rukh was absolutely right, he did not bow down to anyone. He was not wrong in his belief and did not apologise to anyone. I would like to believe that I would have stood up against the Thackerays if something like that would have happened to me," said Ranbir, who was a speaker at the India Today Conclave here.

The young actor had faced a similar situation with MNS and Raj Thackeray during the release of his film `Wake Up Sid` for using the word `Bombay` instead of `Mumbai` in the movie.

"We used the word `Bombay` in the film and the MNS party opposed that. But the film is fiction and this is a part of somebody`s vision. I so many times say Bombay and not Mumbai and because I`ve grown up with the word," he said adding that the the arm-twisting of artistes should stop.

"Yes, it is bullying, it is something that has to stop. I don`t know how to stop it as there is a lot of power that is involved and I am too small to stand up against such power," Ranbir added.

One of television’s most popular couples Aamir Ali and Sanjeeda Shaikh are heading towards a split. The tension between the two has been building up since quite some time and the couple is rarely seen together these days.

Trouble aggravated between Aamir and Sanjeeda when they were approached to compete with each other for the second season of the dance show Zara Nach Ke Dikha and Aamir was reluctant to compete with his lady love.

A source said, “Aamir and Sanjeeda were approached for the same show, which has a group of boys competing with a group of girls. Unlike last season, this year will have eliminations. When Aamir learnt about the eliminations and realised that he and Sanjeeda would be pitted against each other, he told her that only one of them should participate. However, Sanjeeda flatly refused and they ended up having a tiff.”

This was just the beginning of ego clashes between the couple. “After both of them signed the contract for the show individually, problems only increased as a sense of competition erupted between Aamir and Sanjeeda. Consequently, interaction between the two is down to a minimum now,” added the source.

This isn’t the first couple to have serious issues cropping up in their relationship due to a sense of competition. In the earlier season, Gaurav Chopra had broken off with his longtime girlfriend Narayani Shastri and had started seeing Mouni Roy. Incidentally, Narayani and Mouni were co-participants in the show’s first season while Gaurav, of course, was one of the competitors from the boys’ side.

“Aamir fears that the quest for supremacy might become a hindrance in his and Sanjeeda’s longstanding relationship,” said the source.

Aamir Ali said, “It is my personal life and I would not like to say anything about it.” Sanjeeda Shaikh remained unavailable for comment.

While micro-blogging site Twitter has become like a mouthpiece for a majority of Bollywood bigwigs, actress Kareena Kapoor isn’t too keen on joining the bandwagon.

The actress has been evading the idea of joining Twitter because she doesn’t have the time to sign up on the site and start using it, according to reports.

Recently, at an event, Kareena revealed that she’s still not sure about the whole idea of joining Twitter, and would need at least another month to take the decision. The actress says that really needs to think about it carefully, because she’s apparently too tied up with work at present.

Well, poor Bebo looks pretty confused as she wonders if she will be able to stick by it regularly once she starts it. Anyhow, let’s hope that Kareena considers the idea to help us know the sassy beauty even better!

Well, poor Bebo looks pretty confused as she wonders if she will be able to stick by it regularly once she starts it. Anyhow, let’s hope that Kareena considers the idea to help us know the sassy beauty even better!

Uday Chopra had made a very hopeful comeback with Pyaar Impossible , but that turkey turned out to be Box-office Impossible. Poor Uday, who has yet to see a solo hit, found that even the optimist in him was giving up. He disappeared from the scene and has only been seen recently in the social circuit.

Apparently, Uday didn’t take the news of Pyaar Impossible tanking too well. So he took off for the US for 40 days to lick his wounds. He doesn’t seem too chipper on his return either. In the States, he shut himself off from the world and cut contact with people. He traveled alone, hired a car and drove around to indulge in some much needed soul searching. The blow was harsh, after all, Uday had also produced the film.

Having returned only five days ago, he still seems forlorn and in low spirits. The devastation over the debacle is written large over his face. Though he dropped in at Gauri Khan’s party for Akon early this week, a source from the industry says, “That was his first social visit after Pyaar Impossible hit the theatres and fell flat on its face. Though Yash Raj has been known to take flops in its stride, the Pyaar Impossible disaster was a bit too much for Uday. It must be noted that Priyanka charged a bomb to act with him, which only added salt to the wounds.”

Wise men know when to cut their losses. Hopefully, Uday is smart enough to learn from all this and picks potential winners in terms of scripts in the future. Despite many attempts, Uday remained unavailable for comment.

With a decade into Bollywood and a myriad roles to his credit, actor Abhishek Bachchan says he is not averse to doing Hollywood movies.

"Why not? The lines are blurring, there`s been a lot of exchange in terms of talent, technical as well as acting, among European, British, American and Indian cinema. If there is a script that is appealing enough then most definitely,"

Abhishek said in CNN`s "Connect the World` programme. The 34-year-old star, however, added that he does not see a big deal about Hollywood. "I`d rather ask when are they going to come and act in our films and dance around trees with fifty people? That would be far more interesting."

"Traditionally, Indian films were viewed domestically and in the Indian subcontinent and then watched by a select expatriate audience," he said, adding due to a influx of foreign media here the world is waking up to Indian cinema.

Abhishek was in London for the Tongues on Fire Film Festival recently.

Speaking about his association with the festival, he said initially he felt he was a bit under-qualified to be represented like this. "After a while I said it`s nice that the younger generation of the world`s largest film industry is a generation that a lot of people are showing interest in."

Finally, we know why Kites is called Kites. Producer Rakesh Roshan and director Anurag Basu, makers of Kites, one of the most eagerly awaited romantic films of this summer disclose the inspiration behind their film’s title.

“The idea for Kites came to me when I was gazing at the sky and saw two kites flying,”. It looked very romantic. It was very intriguing – the way they came close, played, almost embraced each other and then drew apart. Unaware that someone else was pulling the strings and could cut them loose. I sat down and penned a story around this idea.” notes Rakesh Roshan.

“Kites is a metaphor in the film. Kites fly against the wind and not with it, stronger the wind blows, higher they fly,” adds Anurag Basu who penned the screenplay and directed the film.

Produced by Rakesh Roshan and to be released worldwide by Reliance BIG Pictures, Kites is directed by Anurag Basu. It stars Hrithik Roshan and the Mexican star Barbara Mori along with Kangana Ranaut, Kabir Bedi and Nick Brown.

Worth watching..!!!

I won't be celebrating my birthday: Aamir

will not be celebrating my birthday this year,' Aamir told IANS over e-mail from Mumbai.

Media reports said the actor will fly to the capital Sunday to rub shoulders with acclaimed Hollywood filmmaker James Cameron and to discuss the future of cinema.

'Yes, I am going to be in Delhi for (a) conclave where I would be meeting Cameron,' said the actor.

Aamir did not say why he won't celebrate his birthday. But a source close to him said: 'He in any case doesn't believe in parties and celebrations for his birthday. Moreover, with his dad (noted filmmaker Tahir Hussain) passing away last month, he is keeping a very low profile.'

Incidentally, his colleague Shah Rukh Khan has teamed up with international rapper Akon in Mumbai to record a song.

With cinema in his blood, perfection in his attitude and known as the king of promotional strategies, Aamir managed to deliver several super hits since his first success 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak' (1988).

In more than than two decades he has given hits like 'Dil', 'Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin', 'Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar', 'Rangeela', 'Raja Hindustani', 'Ishq', 'Ghulam', 'Sarfarosh', 'Dil Chahta Hai' and 'Rang De Basanti'.

His 2001 hit period drama 'Lagaan' was nominated in the best foreign picture category at the Oscars.

Off late he struck gold with his 'one-year-one-movie' startegy. His '3 Idiots' and 'Ghajini' smashed all box office records to become Hindi cinema's top two highest earners till date. They have reportedly collected Rs.400 crore and Rs.226 worldwide respectively.

But Aamir is not beaming.

'I don't have any recipe (for success). Lot of us often forget that the business we are in by definition is basically selling stories... We have to be different each time. I have to reinvent myself... that's the demand of my job,' Aamir had earlier said.

'I am attracted to scripts that move me emotionally and when you have such stories to tell, it doesn't matter how unusual it is, people connect to it... I've no idea what audiences want. I only have an idea about what I want...,' he added.

Aamir is a winner of Padma Bhushan, the nation's third highest civilian honour.

Recently, the actor reportedly bagged the biggest endorsement deal by inking an agreement with new telecom entrant, UAE's Etisalat, for Rs.300-350 million for three years.

With so many feathers in his cap, the actor stands tall as an epitome of commercial cinema.

But he is now taking a sabbatical from acting to concentrate on his production ventures - 'Delhi Belly', 'Peepli Live' and his wife Kiran Rao's directorial debut 'Dhobi Ghat'.
