The New Era High School is located in Panchgani, a modern hill station town well-known as an educational centre containing well-established schools, in the state of Maharashtra, India. In addition to academic excellence, the school has long given a high priority to moral education and the promotion of values for world citizenship. Of equal significance, it has been a proving ground for early Bahá'í efforts at promoting social and economic development in rural areas. Facilities include eight dormitories, the largest of which is set apart for girls, the Health Centre, two dining halls, a metal fabrication workshop, an amphitheatre (seating 1500), an audio/visual centre, and physics, chemistry and biology labs, two classroom buildings, vocational workshops, three libraries, art and computer departments, and the gymnasium/auditorium (seating 550). There are also two sports fields and two outdoor basketball courts. In the 1970s and 1980s, the school gradually began to establish a series of outreach programmes aimed at assisting poor and underdeveloped villages in the region. The programme was started as a service project for students. Over the years, these efforts became formalized and finally evolved into a separate institution known as the New Era Development Institute in 1987.

The school provides facility to the students for various Sports like Football, Swimming, Carrom, Chess, Table Tennis, Badminton, Basketball, Club Activities, Computers. The school also promotes creativity among the students by providing facility for Glass, Ceramic Painting, Toy Making, Candle Making, Basic Electricity, Basic Electronics, Tie, Dye, Batik & Embroidery, Baking & Confectionery, Two Wheeler Mechanics, Cooking-Non Veg, Cooking-Veg, Welding & Fabrication, Screen Printing, Photography, Knitting.

No students are admitted to standard 10. The School also offers the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) by the University of Cambridge of Cambridge International Centre. The IGCSE is a two year programme. After completion of standard 8 a student may opt for standard 9 of CBSE or IGCSE.

The students are admitted on the basis of their performance in the Entrance test conducted by the school. The Prospectus and Admission Forms are available after mid January.The Admission forms along with prospectus can be obtained on the payment of Rupees Two Thousand (Rs. 2000/-) from the School Office. Admission is on a first come first served basis. Admission Forms can also be purchased on the day the student reports for the Entrance Test.
