Make Your Own Chapstick

Olive Oil & Beeswax Flakes

Chapsticks are perfect cure for chafed, chapped and even suntanned lips as they come loaded with the goodness of vitamin E, beeswax, camphor, petrolatum and more. The easiest way to have your own homemade chapstick is to get hold of 1 cup extra virgin olive oil, ¼ cup of beeswax flakes or pellets and 4 large-sized vitamin E capsules. Now, take all the ingredients and put them in a double boiler or a medium sized saucepan filled with water and melt them over low flame. Wait till the ingredients have melted. Take care not to bring the mixture to a boil. When done, put off the flame and stir the ingredients. Take chapstick tubes or jars and pour the ingredients into it. Allow the mixture to cool before storing it away for use.

Soy Wax & Shea Butter

You can also use soy wax, shea butter and virgin olive oil to pamper your pout. All you need to do is mix 1/4 cup of extra virgin olive oil, 4 tsp of soy wax, 4 tsp shea butter and 15 large-sized vitamin E capsules in a heat-safe measuring cup or bowl. Place the ingredients in a double boiler or a large saucepan of water over low heat. Allow hot water to melt ingredients, but prevent from boiling. Remove from heat and stir until well combined. Pour into small lip gloss bottles and allow to cool completely before using. You can add essence and sweetness to your lip balm by adding few drops of essential oil. You can go for flavors like peppermint, lemon and cherry that won’t just leave you with kissable lips, but a great taste too.

Shea Butter & Jojoba Oil

If you would like to play with more options, you can go for shea butter and jojoba oil. Just take ¾ oz of shea butter, 2/3 oz of jojoba oil, 1/3 oz of extra virgin olive oil, ½ oz of white beeswax flakes or pellets and 1/4 oz candelilla wax flakes. Take all the ingredients and melt them over low flame. Empty the contents in chapstick containers and allow them to cool before use.

Vanilla & Lemon

You can also indulge into the goodness of exotic items like vanilla to pep your lips. Just take 5 drops of vanilla flavor oil, 5 drops of warm sugar flavor oil, 10 drops of lemon essential oil and ¼ tsp of vitamin E. Melt all the ingredients and stir well. Allow the mixture to cool and store it in jars. You can also add a bit of shimmer to your lip balm by using iridescent glitter.
