homeopathy for menopausal problems, homeopathy & menopause

Monday, April 28th, 2008

Your homeopath will make an assessment of your symptoms, including the physical, mental and emotional effects of the menopause.

A remedy or remedies will be chosen by your homeopath from a variety of natural sources, vegetable, animal and mineral. Remedies such as Pulsatilla (Pasque flower), Sepia (the ink from Cuttle-fish), or Sulphur (a mineral) are a few of the thousands of remedies to choose from. The choice of remedy is highly individual and requires expert help – this means it is advisable not to try and choose your own remedies in a shop, for your menopausal problems.

Chalazion , Chalazia, Meibomian Gland, Lipogranuloma, Stye

Chalazion is a small mass in the eyelid, caused by a blockage of a tiny oil gland in the eyelid.

Causes, incidence, and risk factors
A chalazion develops within the Meibomian glands of the eyelid, which are sebaceous glands that produce the tear film that lubricates the eyes. The eyelid has approximately 100 of these glands, located near the eyelashes.
The condition is caused by obstruction of the duct that drains one of these glands. A chalazion begins as diffuse swelling and tenderness, and later forms a cyst-like localized swelling. Many chalazia disappear without treatment after a few months.

Painful swelling on the eyelid
Eyelid tenderness
Sensitivity of light
Increased tearing
Signs and tests
Examination of eyelid confirms the diagnosis.
Rarely, the Meibomian gland duct may be blocked by a skin cancer If this is suspected, a biopsy may be needed to diagnose the disorder.

The primary treatment is application of warm compresses for 10 – 15 minutes at least 4 times a day. This may soften the hardened oils blocking the duct and promote drainage and healing.

Homeopathy (homeopathic medicine) is a system of medicine founded in the early 19th century

Monday, April 21st, 2008

Homeopathic Medicine : Homeopathy (homeopathic medicine) is a system of medicine founded in the early 19th century by a German physician, Dr. Samuel Christian Hahnemann (1775-1843). Classical homeopathy rests on three principles: the law of similars, the single medicine, and the minimum dose. The law of similars states that a disease is cured by a medicine that creates symptoms similar to those the patient is experiencing. Hence, an important part of the prescription of a homeopathic medicine is a lengthy interview to determine all the symptoms. The homeopathic physician then prescribes the medicine that best matches the symptoms. The principle of the single remedy states that a single medicine should cover all the symptoms the patient is experiencing: mental, emotional and physical. The principle of the minimum dose has two parts. First, the homeopathic physician prescribes only a small number of doses of the homeopathic medicine and waits to see what effect the medicine has. Second, the medicine is given in an infinitesimal dose. There are many training programs and courses in homeopathy in both the U.S. and abroad. However, no diploma or certificate from any school or program is recognized as a license to practice homeopathy in the U.S. Even so, look for qualified homeopaths to use the titles DHt, DHANP and CCH.

Dark circles under eyes and homeopathic medications, treatment

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

Dark circles under eyes

Dark circles under eyes (dark eye circles) are caused by lack of sleep, fatigue or some deficiency. dark circles under eyes may also be due to aging which thins the skin around the eyes. Eight hours of sleep is essential. Do not leave cream on the skin around the eyes for long periods

Black or dark circles under or around the eyes can be caused by many different factors. The following are the most common causes of those unattractive dark circles.

Like varicose veins, dark circles under the eyes are usually an inherited trait. If you have dark circles, there is a good chance that others in your family also have them. The skin under the eye is very thin. When blood passes through the large veins close to the surface of the skin it can produce a bluish tint. The more transparent your skin, also an inherited trait, the darker the circles appear.

Even in darker skinned people, exposure to sunlight, especially during the summer months, can cause a higher-than-normal level of skin pigmentation (melanin) under the eyes. People get sun tans because exposure to the sun increases the natural pigmentation of the skin and draws that pigmentation to the surface. The same principle applies to the skin under the eyes.
Any condition that you have that causes your eyes to itch can contribute to darker circles under the eyes because rubbing or scratching the skin can darken the skin. Hay fever sufferers particularly will notice under-eye “smudges” during the height of the allergy season. Some food allergies can also cause the area under the eyes to appear darker.

Any medications that you are taking that causes blood vessels to dilate, can cause circles under the eyes to darken. Because the skin under the eyes is very delicate, any increase blood flow shows through the skin.

The lack of nutrients in the diet, or the lack of a balance diet, can contribute to the discoloration of the area under the eyes.

A lack of sleep or excessive tiredness can cause paleness of the skin, which again allows the blood underneath the skin to become more visible and appear more blue or darker.

The skin can also become more pale during pregnancy and menstruation, which again allows the underlying veins under the eyes to become more visible.

If you have a propensity to have dark circles under you eyes, as you grow older, they are likely to become more noticeable and permanent. Excess folds of skin under the eyes will also make dark circles more pronounced

Chinin-s- This is used for eyes infection, especially when there is intermitting neuralgic pains in and around eyes, reoccurring malaria infected by chills, photophobia, lachrymation, ulceration of cornea. Sensitiveness to alcohol and tobacco, black darkness due to abuse of Quinine.
