Homeopathic Remedies For Psoriasis

Friday, December 9th, 2011

Firstly, one needs to know that research shows that Homoeopathic medicines work by optimising our defence mechanisms. Psoriasis is a result of an overreaction of an immune response, and homeopathy cures it by optimising the immune over-response. It does not suppress the immune system. So, homoeopathic healing is not a miracle or a lucky exception but a fact of biology; the result of the optimum utilisation of the body?s natural healing system which is curative and non-suppressive in nature.
Secondly, it is important to realise that the statement by the conventional system of medicine that ?psoriasis cannot be permanently cured? is only their own opinion, based according to the results achieved with their treatment.

The safety aspect also strengthens the case for homoeopathic medicines to be used for treating psoriasis. While using them, the patient is not exposed to the risk of toxicity as homeopathic medicines are highly diluted and side-effects are very uncommon.
Psoriasis is a chronic non-contagious skin disorder. It can affect any part of the body but most often occurs on scalp, elbows, knees, hands, feet and genitals. It may present itself with severe itching and physical discomfort. Although there are many types of psoriasis, the most common type is characterised by raised and thickened red patches covered with silvery scales. Many skin disorders may portray such symptoms, but three main features which differentiate psoriasis from other skin disorders are: psoriasis has well-defined borders. The surface has silvery scales that easily come off and the skin under the scales has a shiny red appearance.

Half of the cases of psoriasis show some changes in their nails .There may be pitting, yellow – pink discoloration or complete loss of nail due to the involvement of nail matrix and nail-bed.

Causes For Kidney Stone

Thursday, December 8th, 2011

Conditions causing an increase in salts and minerals in the urine and/or a decrease in urine volume cause stones. Common causes are:

1. Dehydration: Poor fluid intake causes concentration of salts and minerals in the urine leading to stones. Exercising without proper hydration can predispose you to stones.

2. Excessive Calcium: A condition called ‘Hypercalciuria’, which leads to excessive calcium absorption into the urine, causes the most common type of stones containing calcium. Calcium binds with phosphate or oxalate to form ‘Calcium phosphate’ or ‘Calcium oxalate’ stones respectively. Hyperparathyroidism, a condition involving over activity of the parathyroid gland, causes such excessive absorption.

3. Infection: Urinary tract infection leads to ‘Struvite’ stones. These stones are usually large and called ‘stag-horn’ stones which cause sever damage to the walls lining the urinary tract.

4. Medication: Certain diuretic, HIV drugs (Indinavir) etc.

5. Uric Acid Diathesis: A condition called gout causes excess of uric acid in the urine leading to stones.

Homeopathic remedies For Malaria

Thursday, December 8th, 2011

Doctors and scientists have warned holidaymakers not to use homeopathic remedies for malaria and other serious tropical diseases or their lives could be put at risk.
The warning follows an investigation by the BBC which found 10 homeopathic clinics and pharmacies allegedly went against government guidelines by recommending unproven remedies for malaria and other tropical diseases such as typhoid, dengue fever and yellow fever.

Scientists said the homeopaths’ advice was reprehensible and likely to endanger lives. Professor Geoffrey Pasvol, a tropical medicine expert at Imperial College London, said: “Medical practitioners would be sued, taken to court and found guilty for far less. What this investigation has unearthed is appalling.”

Malaria is a major risk to people travelling in the tropics and can kill within days of the first symptoms. Almost 2,000 people returned to Britain with malaria last year and 12 died. According to the Department of Health, most cases resulted from people not taking the appropriate protective drugs.
