Homoepathic Remedies For Liver Infection

Thursday, January 31st, 2013

A collection of fats in the liver cells is called fatty liver. This condition is also called steatosis hepatis or steatorrhoeic hepatosis.

Fatty liver by itself though abnormal, is a relatively harmless condition. The liver is the largest organ in the human body. It plays many roles in keeping the biochemical balance intact. You should know some normal functions of the liver to understand how disease affects it.

Following are the homeopathic medicines for liver infection :

1. Bryonia : When there are stitching pains in the right hypochondriac region, Bryonia is the first remedy to be thought of, though for these pains we have other remedies, such as Chelidonium and Kali carbonicum.

2. Mercurius : This remedy has much sensitiveness and dull pain in the region of the liver; the patient cannot lie on the right side. The liver is enlarged. The skin and conjunctiva are jaundiced.

3. Digitalis : When jaundice arises from cardiac diseases, Digitalis may be the remedy. There is no retention of bile, nor obstruction of the ducts, but the jaundice is due to the fact that the liver does not take from the blood the elements which go to form bile.

4. Podophyllum : The principal use of Podophyllum is in liver affections. Primarily, it induces a large flow of bile, and, secondarily, great torpidity, followed by jaundice. It is indicated in torpid or chronically congested liver, when diarrhea is present.

5. Lycopodium : Lycopodium acts powerfully on the liver. The region of the liver is sensitive to the touch, and there is a feeling of tension in it, a feeling as if a cord were tied about the waist. Cirrhosis.

Homeopathic Medicines for Headaches of All Types

Wednesday, January 30th, 2013

Use homeopathic medicines at home when you or your children have mild to moderate headaches.

It is often difficult to choose the right medicine for a headache. So many headaches are made better or worse by the same factors, and many remedies cover these common modalities. Often the person’s general symptoms are your best guide in choosing the medicine. Use only the strongest, most definite headache symptoms in your case analysis, and compare them to the symptoms we list here. If you still have trouble picking the right medicine,  choose between the first three Belladonna, Nux, and Bryonia. One of these three medicines will help the majority who suffer from acute headaches that have few specific symptoms.

Give the medicine :  Up to every two hours; once improvement begins, repeat only when symptoms are worse again or improvement has ceased for an hour or so.

When to try another medicine : If the symptoms are no better after two or three doses of the first medicine you try.

Homeopathic Remedies for Depression

Tuesday, January 29th, 2013

When a person feels depressed, something needs attention. Too much stress can make it hard to cope, and important feelings may be suppressed or turned inside. A major loss or grief requires time and emotional support for real recovery—and even a buildup of minor stresses (disappointments, setbacks, trouble in relationships, or work-related problems) can contribute to depression.

Dietary deficiencies, allergies and sensitivities, hormonal imbalances, or biochemical conditions may also be involved. A person going through a period of mild sadness or depression may find relief through homeopathy. The guidance of an experienced homeopath is often valuable, to choose a remedy that fits the situation best. Any person with deep, long-lasting, or recurring depression should seek the care of a licensed mental health professional.

Arsenicum album: Anxious, insecure, and perfectionistic people who need this remedy may set high standards for themselves and others and become depressed if their expectations are not met. Worry about material security sometimes borders on despair. When feeling ill, these people can be demanding and dependent, even suspicious of others, fearing their condition could be serious.

Aurum metallicum: This remedy can be helpful to serious people, strongly focused on work and achievement, who become depressed if they feel they have failed in some way. Discouragement, self-reproach, humiliation, and anger can lead to feelings of emptiness and worthlessness. The person may feel worse at night, with nightmares or insomnia.

Calcarea carbonica: A dependable, industrious person who becomes overwhelmed from too much worry, work, or physical illness may benefit from this remedy. Anxiety, fatigue, confusion, discouragement, self-pity, and a dread of disaster may develop. A person who needs this remedy often feels chilly and sluggish and easily tires on exertion.

Causticum: A person who feels depressed because of grief and loss (either recent or over time) may benefit from this remedy. Frequent crying or a feeling of mental dullness and forgetfulness (with anxious checking to see if the door is locked, if the stove is off, etc.) are other indications. People who need this remedy are often deeply sympathetic toward others and, having a strong sense of justice, can be deeply discouraged or angry about the world.

Cimicifuga: A person who needs this remedy can be energetic and talkative when feeling well, but upset and gloomy when depressed—with exaggerated fears (of insanity, of being attacked, of disaster). Painful menstrual periods and headaches that involve the neck are often seen when this remedy is needed.

Ignatia amara: Sensitive people who suffer grief or disappointment and try to keep the hurt inside may benefit from this remedy. Wanting not to cry or appear too vulnerable to others, they may seem guarded, defensive, and moody. They may also burst out laughing, or into tears, for no apparent reason. A feeling of a lump in the throat and heaviness in the chest with frequent sighing or yawning are strong indications for Ignatia. Insomnia (or excessive sleeping), headaches, and cramping pains in the abdomen and back are also often seen.

Kali phosphoricum: If a person feels depressed after working too hard, being physically ill, or going through prolonged emotional stress or excitement, this remedy can be helpful. Exhausted, nervous, and jumpy, they may have difficulty working or concentrating—and become discouraged and lose confidence. Headaches from mental effort, easy perspiration, sensitivity to cold, anemia, insomnia, and indigestion are often seen when this remedy is needed.

Top Homeopathic Medicines for Hair Loss!

Monday, January 28th, 2013

Hair fall is one of the commonest symptoms with which patients present to us. Sometimes it is an associated symptom of some other major disease symptom or it is the disease per say. I have not observed any age limit for this problem. Rather, the age limit is decreasing sadly day by day for hair problems. Earlier hair troubles usually used to start during mid thirties, but today many teenage girls and boys complain of some or the other hair problems. The major complaints about hair are hair fall, dandruff, alopecia aerata, premature graying of hair, brittleness of hair, split ends, dry scaly scalp etc.

Many times first question asked to us doctors in our clinics is- “Which oil or shampoo shall I use to grow nice and healthy hair?” Well, do these oils and shampoos really help your hair? At least these external applications are mere external and never lead to any inward nourishment, however their advertisements may boast. No wonder anti-dandruff shampoos lead to enhanced dandruff 2 to 3 days after shampooing. That’s why it is necessary that one treats any hair problem internally.

Also the increasing pollution, stress, night-outs, etc are some other factors that have aggravated the hair problems in many. Therefore, even if we suggest internal medication in homeopathy, we must also ensure that we educate the patient about right modes of living, natural lifestyle, and how to handle stress. Then only it will be what we can say as a “Complete Therapy”!

Low Blood Treatment By Homeopathic Medecines

Saturday, January 26th, 2013

Low blood pressure is an abnormal condition where a person’s blood pressure (the pressure of the blood against the walls of the blood vessels during and after each beat of the heart) is much lower than usual, which can cause symptoms such as dizziness or lightheadedness.

Your homeopathic low blood pressure remedies use very small dosage to treat the illness. It can raise blood pressure by stimulating your own body system.

A blood pressure level that is borderline low for one person may be normal for another. The most important factor is how the blood pressure changes from the normal condition. Most normal blood pressures fall in the range of 90/60 mm Hg to 130/80 mm Hg, but a significant change, even as little as 20 mm Hg, can cause problems for some people.

Even if you are having abnormal low blood pressure, it can rise to normal using homeopathic remedies. Homeopathy remedies are highly individualized based on both physical as well as mental symptoms, thus treatment will be effective.

The doctor needs to identify the cause of the low blood pressure since treatment will depend on the cause.

• Septicemia is treated with intravenous fluids and antibiotics or other medicines.

• Dehydration is treated with fluids and minerals (electrolytes). Mild dehydration without nausea and vomiting can be treated with oral fluids and electrolytes. Moderate to severe dehydration usually is treated with intravenous fluids and electrolytes.

• Blood loss can be treated with intravenous fluids and blood transfusions. If bleeding is continuing, it needs to be treated as well.

Goitre – Homeopathy Treatment and Homeopathic Remedies

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2013

Treatment may not be necessary if the goitre is small. Goitre may be related to hyper- and hypothyroidism (especially Graves’ disease) and may be reversed by treatment of hyper- and hypothyroidism. Grave’s disease can be corrected with antithyroid drugs (such as propylthiouracil and methimazole), thyroidectomy (surgical removal of the thyroid gland), and iodine-131 (a radioactive isotope of iodine that is absorbed by the thyroid gland and destroys it).

Hypothyroidism may raise the risk of goitre because it usually increases the production of TRH and TSH. Levothyroxine, used to treat hypothyroidism, can also be used in euthyroid patients for the treatment of goitre. Levothyroxine suppressive therapy decreases the production of TRH and TSH and may reduce goitre, thyroid nodules, and thyroid cancer. Blood tests are needed to ensure that TSH is still in range and the patient has not become subclinically hyperthyroid. If TSH levels are not carefully monitored, levothyroxine may increase the risk of osteoporosis.

Thyroidectomy or 131 may be necessary in euthyroid goitrous patients who do not respond to levothyroxine treatment, especially if the patients have difficulty breathing or swallowing. 131, with or without the pre-injection of synthetic TSH, can relieve obstruction and reduce the size of the goitre by thirty to sixty-five percent. Depending on how large the goitre is and how much of the thyroid gland must be removed or destroyed, thyroidectomy or 131 may produce hypothyroidism requiring life-long treatment.

Homeopathy treats the person as a whole. It means that homeopathic treatment focuses on the patient as a person, as well as his pathological condition. The homeopathic medicines are selected after a full individualizing examination and case-analysis, which includes the medical history of the patient, physical and mental constitution, family history, presenting symptoms, underlying pathology, possible causative factors etc. A miasmatic tendency (predisposition/susceptibility) is also often taken into account for the treatment of chronic conditions. A homeopathy doctor tries to treat more than just the presenting symptoms. The focus is usually on what caused the disease condition? Why ‘this patient’ is sick ‘this way’. The disease diagnosis is important but in homeopathy, the cause of disease is not just probed to the level of bacteria and viruses. Other factors like mental, emotional and physical stress that could predispose a person to illness are also looked for. No a days, even modern medicine also considers a large number of diseases as psychosomatic. The correct homeopathy remedy tries to correct this disease predisposition.

The focus is not on curing the disease but to cure the person who is sick, to restore the health. If a disease pathology is not very advanced, homeopathy remedies do give a hope for cure but even in incurable cases, the quality of life can be greatly improved with homeopathic medicines.

Important Homeopathic Medicines For Gastric Problem

Monday, January 21st, 2013

It is sometimes difficult, literally and figuratively, to stomach the gas, heartburn, and indigestion pains. It hurts, it is discomforting, and it is upsetting that our body’s normally magnificent alchemical process of turning food into energy is having problems.

To some of us, these problems are occasional and to others they are all too common. The good news is that you won’t die from it, but the bad news is that sometimes you feel like you are experiencing a slow and painful death.

Although we may want to curse at our digestive tract, the fact of the matter is that our digestive symptoms are actually defenses of the body in its best efforts to defend and heal ourselves. The symptoms that we experience may not always feel like they are healing us, but these symptoms are our body’s efforts to defend ourselves against poisons in our food, against substances to which we may be allergic, against overdosing on too much food or drink, against the stresses that we experience before, during, or after eating, or simply against unknown fac tors that affect the digestive processes.

Homeopathic Medicine For Gas Problem and Stomach Pain :

Arsenicum album: This remedy may be indicated if a person feels anxious, restless yet exhausted, and is worse from the smell and sight of food. Burning pain is felt in the stomach and esophagus, which often is relieved by warmth and sitting up. Vomiting and diarrhea are possible. Upsets from spoiled food or from eating too much fruit often respond to this remedy.

Colocynthis: Cutting, cramping pain in the stomach and abdomen, with relief from hard pressure or from doubling over, indicates a need for this remedy. A bitter taste in the mouth, a feeling that the intestines are about to burst, or a sensation that stones are grinding together in the abdomen may be present. Indigestion may be worse when the person feels upset, especially after suppressing anger.

Lycopodium: This remedy is indicated for many digestive troubles. The person’s appetite may be ravenous, but eating even a small amount can cause a feeling of fullness and bloating. Rumbling gas may form in the abdomen, pressing upward and making breathing difficult. The person often has a strong desire for sweets, is sleepy after meals, and feels worst in the late afternoon and evening.

Carbo vegetabilis: Sour belching bringing only small relief, burning pain in the stomach and abdomen, and flatulence after eating may be seen when this remedy is needed. The person feels cold and faint, with a strong desire for fresh or moving air. Digestion may be slow and incomplete, with nausea or cramping.

Bryonia: When this remedy is indicated, the stomach feels heavy, with rising acid and a bitter or sour taste. Pain and nausea are worse from motion of any kind. The person may have a dry mouth and be thirsty for long drinks, which may increase discomfort. Bryonia is strongly suggested if a person is grumpy and wants to stay completely still and not be touched or talked to.

Homeopathic Treatment For Toothache

Friday, January 18th, 2013

Homeopathy is a wonderful support if you have toothache or need to get dental work done. A toothache can happen unexpectedly, causing distress and serious pain. To make matters worse, it’s not always possible to reach a dentist in order to deal with your toothache conventionally. Between dealing with long waits to get an appointment, being out of town and unable to reach your normal dentist, or just being unable to pay for a normal dental visit, we all sometimes have to find another way to treat a toothache.
Ideally, an emergency treatment for toothache should be natural and safe to use.

The severity of a toothache can range from a mild discomfort to excruciating pain (more common in the second molars, esp on the left mandible), which can be experienced either chronically or sporadically. This pain can often be aggravated somewhat by chewing or by hot or cold temperature. Toothaches are sometimes caused by an irritation of the pulp, known as pulpitis. This can be either reversible or irreversible.

Toothaches that get worse when you introduce cold substances into your mouth, and which are improved by heat should be treated with five pellets of 9C Magnesia phosphorica until symptoms subside.

Homeopathic Medecines :

HEPAR SULPHUR: Tooth pain from the slightest touch and from exposure to cold water, food, or air suggests this medicine. These children are hyper-irritable.

Mercurius: Children who salivate profusely during a toothache often need this medicine. The pains are aggravated by biting, cold air, and at night. Their pains may extend to the ears.

HYPERICUM: When children have shooting pains from injury or infection, this medicine should be considered. It is also good for injuries to the front teeth.

COFFEA: A toothache that makes children extremely restless and sleepless suggests this medicine. They receive some relief from cold water, while the pain is aggravated by warm drinks or food.

Homeopathic Treatment For Your Asthma

Tuesday, January 15th, 2013

Asthma is a common disease worldwide which can even be fatal. Homeopathic remedies are effective, proven to be useful in asthma and a holistic system of medicine, which boosts the natural tendency of the body to heal itself. However you should preferably take homeopathic remedies after consultation with a homeopathic physician.

If a person has great difficulty breathing, looks very pale, has bluish lips, or seems to be very weak or in danger of losing consciousness, seek a doctor’s help immediately.

Arsenicum album (arsenic): It is a commonly used remedy in patient with an acute asthma attack. It is generally used in patients with fearfulness, restlessness, weakness, and aggravation of the symptoms at or after midnight.

Carbo vegetabilis: This remedy may be indicated when a person feels weak or faint with a hollow sensation in the chest. Coughing jags can lead to gagging. The person may be very cold (especially hands and feet), yet feel a need for moving air, wanting to sit beside a fan or open window.

House dust mite (house dust mite): In patients allergic to house dust mite, a homeopathic dose of it is frequently useful. As allergy to house dust mite is common in people with asthma it is considered as an important remedy for an acute attack of asthma.

Natrum sulphuricum: This remedy is sometimes indicated when asthma attacks are brought on by exposure to mold and dampness. The person may hold the chest while coughing, because it feels so weak.
