Date Pudding

seedless dates - 1 small pakcet 
maida - 1 level cup (100 gms) 
margarine - 75 gms 
egg - 1 
baking powder - 1/2 tsp 
milk - to mix 
orange - 1 
powdered sugar - 1/2 cup 
cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp 

Chop dates into small pieces and spread at the bottom of buttered oven proof dish. 
Grate orange rind using fine grater (orange coloured portion only) and sprinkle on top of dates. 
Squeeze juice from orange and pour over dates. 
Rub margarine with baking powder in a plate until it becomes fluffy. 
Add sugar and whip gently. 
Mix beaten egg and flour along with cardamom powder to the margarine. 
Add just required milk and beat well. 
Pour over dates and bake on a preheated moderate oven until top turns golden. 
Turn over to serving dish. 
Slice and serve hot with vanilla ice cream.
